Wicklow Mountains and Grendalough: a respite from city life.

Hello all from Dublin! Today the group went to the Wicklow Mountains for a day of great photography. The views all around were fantastic and the country was amazing. We also made a stop at Saint Kevin’s Chapel and the Monastery there, which included a cemetery that we walked around and reflected in. Then most of the group went on a nice hike and got to see a waterfall as well as beautiful views by a lake. It was a busy day but rewarding with the scenery we got to experience.

20 Different Students Headed Off to 20 Different Homes "After a night to myself I had breakfast with my host family and discussed the plans for the day. After this we visited the main shopping center in Dublin, Grafton Street. While we were there we got lunch, then continued our journey. This meant a quick trip to the Irish National Art Gallery then a tour next door to the Taoiseach (PM)’s office. Once the tour had concluded we headed to Phoenix Park, where we ran into a few other exchange pairs. We then took a bus and finished our day with a tour of the President’s House (which looked similar to the White House). At sundown we went to a Rugby Match between an Italian and Irish team. The Final Weekend

"This weekend was very enjoyable. Saturday was a “chill out” day, where we had an amazing brunch and saw local things. On Sunday, I was fortunate to see the beautiful cliff side of Howth. It was an outstanding view, although very windy. I really enjoyed seeing Dublin with my host brother." --Sam Dossantos

The North Country: Belfast and the Antrim Coast

Today, we hauled onto the bus and crossed the border between the Republic of Ireland and the Unionist Ireland. We stopped in the Northern capital, Belfast; there we learned about "the troubles", drove down the main streets of the Catholic and Protestant neighborhoods and then we all signed our names on the peace wall that separates them. We also went to the Titanic Museum, on the orginal grounds where the Titanic was built. Then we got back on the bus and drove all the way up to the northernmost part of the Irish island - we saw a lot of the places where Game of Thrones was filmed. Then we went to the Rope Bridge, and walked across that (none of us were scared :)). We finished the day at Giant’s Causeway, and walked all the way to the top of the cliffs.
