Belvedere Classes, Glasnevin Cemetery, and The Debate

Science Experiments

A lesson on the Irish Language: Dia Duit!

"Today, we visited the Glasnevin cemetery. One of the first things that you notice when you arrive is the sheer size of the place. We were told that over 1 million people are buried there, which is pretty hard to conceptualize. It is also quite beautiful, with the typical Irish lush green landscape. Another thing I noticed was that the tombstones seemed to be much larger than most in the United States. However, the highlight of Glasnevin would have to be Daniel O’Connell’s tomb. We were given a detailed biography of his very interesting life as a lawyer, and all of the wild stories that came with it. One of these was when he strengthened his case by claiming that he “saw the accused when he was in a cradle”. In reality, he asked him to get in the cradle the day before, so he wouldn’t technically be lying."
